Masefau village pride
Masefau, Am. Samoa. A small village on a tropical South Pacific Island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Masefau, like all the other villages on both Samoa Groups, has its history, legends and myths. There is very little written history on Masefau village but parents and grandparent try to continue the history by telling stories of long ago to their children. The samoan culture, fa'asamoa, is very much alive in the village. Fa'asamoa, in my opinion, is mainly derived from religion and how we would like to be treated by other, respect, fa'aaloalo. Fa'asamoa is a large subject of its own, in my opinion, that maybe I could cover at another time.
Masefau, according to one legend, was astablished by two(2) brothers named Mase and Fau. Hence the name Masefau.
Masefau, as well as any other village in the Samoa groups, are made up of high cheif, orators, cheifs under the high cheif and the warriors. Masefau have eight(8) Ali'i titles that is adressed as the matua, the oldest, and fale fitu, seven(7) houses.
